How the pad printing work?
Pad printing process is commonly used for applying logos, text, or graphics(patterns) onto various items such as promotional products, electronics, toys, medical devices, and more. Here’s a general overview of how a pad printer works:
Transfer Process:
- The core component of a pad printer is the silicone pad, which is often made in the shape of a flat or curved pad, depending on the shape of the item being printed.
- The pad is lowered onto the inked printing plate, picking up the ink and transferring it to the products. The flexible nature of the pad allows it to conform to the shape of irregular or curved surfaces, ensuring a clean and accurate transfer of the image.
- Printing:The pad is then lifted off the pad printing plate and moved to the substrate, where it makes contact and transfers the ink onto the item. This process is repeated for each item in the production run.
- Curing (if required): If the ink used is UV-curable, the printed items may pass through a UV curing station to instantly harden the ink and ensure adhesion to the substrate.
- It’s important to note that pad printing is versatile and can be used on a wide range of substrates, including plastics, glass, ceramics, metals, and more. Additionally, it is particularly well-suited for printing on uneven or irregular surfaces, making it a popular choice for customized branding and labeling on various products.
